For The Toads

Amphibians hop into Fort Worth

Frogs are where it's at. There was Kermit, Jeremiah, Keroppi and don't forget sweet little Frogger. All of them are sweet, loveable creatures and damn if the kids don't love 'em. But toads? Well they tend to be the more crotchety of the amphibious fellows, getting a bad rap on name recognition—they just don't get the respect they deserve. Bands like The Toadies and Toad the Wet Sprocket haven't helped the situation, but A Year with Frog and Toad, based on Arnold Lobel's children's book series, is coming to town to set things straight. The musical, which will be performed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Performance Hall (525 Commerce St. in Fort Worth), shows us that Toad's reserved caution makes him the best friend a Frog could ever have. Tickets are $5 to $20, with student discounts available. Call 817-212-4280 or visit basshall.com.
