Son Volt, Dr. John and 200 artists take Fort Worth

Dear whomever scheduled live music at the Fort Worth Main Street Arts Festival: You are a moron. You managed to book two great acts, Dr. John and Son Volt, and filled out the rest of the lineup with a bunch of spares. If you had any sense, you would have Son Volt play right before Dr. John's headlining set—and no matter what Jay Farrar fans say, it should NOT be the other way around. Or perhaps they could have played on different nights if their scheduling allowed it. But no, you have the only two worthwhile performers play at the same time (9:30 p.m. Saturday) on different stages. You're telling me you couldn't have bumped the Quebe Sisters Band, Terrance Simien or freaking Poo Live Crew? At least there will be fine art and contemporary craft from 200 juried artists, a kids art activity area and performance art. The festival runs 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday on Main Street between the Tarrant County Courthouse and the Fort Worth Convention Center in downtown Fort Worth. Admission is free. Visit mainstreetartsfest.org.
Thu., April 17, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fri., April 18, 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sat., April 19, 10 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sun., April 20, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., 2008
