Some Kind of Hypnotist

By Naomi Zeveloff

Published on April 17, 2008

In the world of the swinging pendulum, there are two kinds of practitioners: therapeutic hypnotists and their cheesy ass you're-getting-very-sleepy now-wake-up-and-act-like-a-monkey counterparts. Gary Conrad happens to fit both bills. The self-described "master" hypnotist started his career practicing on stressed out Wall Street execs who wanted to relax. He later switched to entertainment, traveling to military bases and comedy clubs, where he hypnotized many a grown man into believing he was a demure little girl. Get mesmerized yourself at Conrad's Fort Worth shows tonight and tomorrow at Hyenas Comedy Night Club, 605 Houston St. There will be four performances, at 9 and 11 p.m. both evenings; call 817-877-5233 or visit hyenascomedynightclub.com.
