Legendary Babe

There are two very large, very obvious, protruding reasons to see Dolly Parton perform in person. And then there's a slew of others, not the least of which is the fact that the country music icon ain't getting any younger. No, the 62-year-old singer hasn't shown any signs of slowing down—she's currently on the road promoting her new album, Backwoods Barbie, number 41 in her discography, and she recently tutored the newest crop of American Idol contestants—but how many more chances will you have to hear one of the greatest American songwriters and singers in history perform from her catalog of hits, which, oh, just happens to include two of the greatest songs of the past 30 years, "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You"? Well, probably more times than you'd guess—Parton's kind of like the Energizer bunny of the music industry—but why wait? It's not like the tickets to her shows are going to get any cheaper with time. Sunday's show at the Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie kicks off at 8 p.m., and tickets will run you $40 to $115. Visit ticketmaster.com for more information.
