Extreme GrapeBy Spencer CampbellPublished on May 15, 2008 at 12:46amOh, yes, Grapevine is a hard-ass. It's the Russell Crowe of DFW suburbs. Being a hard-ass, the city wants you to know of its hard-assness. That's why at its annual Main Street Days Outdoor Adventure, held Friday through Sunday, Grapevine flexes its muscles by holding extreme sport exhibitionsâa BMX bike show, a pro wakeboarding show and a gunfighter show (after all, there's no sport more extreme than the duel of death)âthat flaunt its "adventurous side." On Saturday and Sunday, take a shuttle from the festival's north gate to one of seven Grapevine wineries, where all those hours watching Sideways finally pay off. ("Quaffable but, uhâ¦far from transcendent.") Don't be afraid to get a little weekend drunk, either. The shuttles will run your wasted ass back to the festival until 6 p.m., just in time to welcome your favorite third-tier folk/blues/polka band to one of two stages. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Adult tickets run $7, seniors and kids are $5. Visit grapevinetexasusa.com.
