Anyone who's ever been on the wrong end of an attorney's bill (to wit: not the money-receiving end) has wondered: What precisely am I paying for? Sometimes you know right off. Like if you're paying Jim Adler, you're paying for daily personal training so that Mr. Adler, Esq., can continue to smack down with the unyielding hand of the Texas Hammer. Similarly, any check made out to Roni Deutch will eventually make its way to the world's worst colorist. But what about those not-so-late-night-cable-famous faces? They're spending their time writing material for Sleazy Todd: The Demon Partner of Main Street, sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association. Written and performed by people who probably should have been trying to get you off for that possession charge, Bar None XXIII's Sleazy Todd features lawyers, judges, clerks, paralegals and anyone else making a living off your bad luck. According to a press release, the show will "use song, dance and comedy to poke fun at the legal profession, politics and ourselves." See the hard-hitting satire as the show runs this Wednesday through Saturday, June 14, at the Greer Garson Theatre at SMU, 6100 Hillcrest Ave. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
