At the Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game this Saturday, I have two missions. Mission No. 1: Find Wade Boggs and hound him until he answers my question. And no, I don't care about his 3,000 hits, his World Series ring or his 12 straight All-Star Game appearances. All I want to know is if it's true that he once consumed 48 beers on a cross-country flight. Mission No. 2: If Boggs' story is true, worship him as my new god. I'll probably be booted out of the stadium at some point, but you should plan on coming to Frisco and enjoying some star-studded baseball. Other players include Fred Lynn, Mike Modano, Jason Terry and that fake, crippled quarterback on Friday Night Lights. (I don't know why they couldn't get that Riggins character, though. Sure he's wild and dark, but I know that I could change him.) And, they're going to play real baseball this year, no sissy pitching machines like last year. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. Tickets range anywhere from $5 to $15, and can be had by calling 214-373-8000 or by visiting Ticketmaster.com. Proceeds from the game benefit The Heroes Foundation YOUniversity Program and The Mike Modano Foundation.
