During a recent trip to Chicago, I spent an insanely excessive amount of time checking out new art. Whether it was one of the many galleries I happened upon or the public works all over town (get with the program, Dallas!), I saw loads of local Chicago talent, which led me to wonder about the art scene back here at home. I know it's around here somewhere -- you just need the proper gallery directors to point you in the right direction. Rather than spreading yourself thin by going to solo exhibitions from time to time, why not dive headfirst into Party at the Moontower, Road Agent's summer group exhibition. This party isn't going to have an Alice Cooper soundtrack or a Milla Jovovich original Kiss statue, but it will feature new works from Road Agent alums like Ludwig Schwarz and Raychael Stine along with Kevin Todora, Margaret Meehan and others, many of whom are Dallas-based. This summer's group exhibition runs now through August 30 at Road Agent, 2909-A Canton St. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-749-4049 or visit road-agent.com.
