Raining Cats And Dogs

I adopted my dog 11 years ago from a Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) shelter. She's a little bit crazy and doesn't always listen, and we also have yet to figure out exactly what breeds she is made of. Regardless, she is absolutely perfect; the best dog in the world. The SPCA has evolved in recent years to become an even more awesome advocate for animals, running exclusively "no-kill" shelters, keeping perfect creatures safe, healthy and alive until they find their very own perfect humans to go home with. If there is a more noble pursuit, I have not discovered it. The 2008 Feeding is Believing Program will visit the SPCA of Texas Dallas location on Saturday to talk about the importance of proper pet nutrition. They will also spring for the adoption fee for the first 10 cat and dog adoptions, although current pet owners are welcome to attend as well. Some attendees will go home with a 30-day supply of Science Diet pet food. It all goes down from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the SPCA, 362 S. Industrial Blvd. Call 214-742-7722.
