The Impressionists I Get

See Van Goghs and Monets in Fort Worth

Art museums must have done really well in kindergarten 'cause they totally know how to share. Take the sweet, generous Art Institute of Chicago for example -- it's agreed to loan Fort Worth's Kimbell Art Museum (3333 Camp Bowie Blvd.) 92 awesome paintings by a veritable who's who of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters, including Degas, Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Renoir and Cezanne. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, it should be mentioned that the loan actually benefits both museums: an extensive renovation and wing addition to the Art Institute would have put most of the works in storage anyway, so the Kimbell jumped in and agreed to temporarily house the paintings. Everybody wins. Sharing is caring. Come check out this unprecedented loan and see The Impressionists: Master Paintings From the Art Institute of Chicago, on display through November 2. Although admission to the Kimbell's permanent collection is always free, there is a fee to see this special exhibition (except for Kimbell members). Tickets are $16 for adults, $14 for students and seniors and $12 for kids and can be purchased in advance at ticketmaster.com or at the museum's Exhibition Ticket Office. (Tuesdays are half-price admission days.) For museum hours and more information, call 817-332-8451 or go to kimbellart.org.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 12. Continues through Nov. 2, 2008
