See Hecho en Dallas at the LCC

When you think of the things produced by our fair city, several immediately spring to mind, and you can put most of them in your mouth--Mrs. Baird's bread, frozen margaritas, Fletcher's Corny Dogs, 7-Eleven, fried Coke, fried guacamole bites, etc., etc. (Can you tell we're getting amped up for the State Fair?) Granted, you probably can't lick it without getting arrested, but the art featured in the new exhibit Hecho en Dallas/Made in Dallas is also a product of the Big D, hence the name of the show. Artists Mirtha Aertker, Eric Chavera, Li-Yu Chen, Charlotte Cornett, Oscar Duran, Loretta Gonzalez, Susan Lecky, Maria Teresa Garcia Pedroche, Michael Reeder, Arthur Stephens, Corky Stuckenbruck--for real, y'all; Michael Tichansky and Rene West were selected by a jury to show off their works (honestly, they might have selected Stuckenbruck and Pedroche for their names alone, though; we certainly would have), which include pieces in several media. Check it out from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at the Latino Cultural Center, 2500 Live Oak St. For more info call 214-670-3320 or visit dallasculture.org/latinocc.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: July 25. Continues through Aug. 30, 2008
