At "Dog Days of Summer," an event benefiting the Greyhound Adoption League, executive chef Chris Ward will demonstrate "recipes for humans and canines alike." Presuming the press release isn't referring to soylent green and Korean food, why the hell would you cook something for a dog? Guess what: The dog doesn't give a shit. He'd be happier if you let him dig used Kleenex out of your bathroom trash and wash them down with toilet water. Somehow I don't think an animal that will choke himself half to death on his leash trying to eat a three-day-old dead crow will appreciate fresh, wholesome ingredients. Hopefully the people-chow recipes and take-home cookbook will make it worthwhile. The class is 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at The Mercury, 11909 Preston Road. Tickets are $35.
