Homework

The idea of the faculty art exhibition is as old as the idea of art school. After all, perhaps the best way to teach a student about visual art is to show them the myriad possibilities inherent in the form. Really, I wish more of my teachers and professors would have shown me their own work--it would have been nice to read something my high school English and history teachers wrote, for instance (and I suppose I could have watched my math teachers balance their checkbooks or something). This month the faculty at TWU kicks off the school year by showing off in the school's East and West Galleries, located in the Fine Arts Building at the corner of Texas and Oakland Streets in Denton. Participants include Laurie Weller, John Calabrese, Susan Kae Grant, John Weinkein, Colby Parsons, Gary Washmon, Tanya Synar, Don Radke, Jana Perez and Corky Stuckenbruck. If you're in any of their classes, perhaps you should swing by (hint, hint). Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; the exhibit continues through September 19. Visit twu.edu.
Mondays-Saturdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Aug. 26. Continues through Sept. 19, 2008
