The Brady Bunch

Dallas gets a dose of Wayne

It's fun to learn surprising, fun facts about people. Who woulda thought that playboy gazillionaire Bruce Wayne secretly liked to dress up like a bat and kick ass all night long? Or that mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent was from another planet? Or that Dina Lohan is not covered in a thick layer of scales? OMG, right!? That was also our reaction when we learned that Wayne Brady has won four Emmys. Holy cow, and here we thought he was just a mild-mannered gazillionaire who conjures up vague memories of the time when we believed Whose Line Is It Anyway? was the greatest television show ever. Constantly razzed for being the whitest black comic ever, Brady is actually something of a dark horse (badumchssh!). His Chappelle's Show crime spree sketch is probably one of the all-time greats, and he's also got Reno 911! cred. So hey, maybe Wayne's really cool after all. We'll look forward to him rockin' the house at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra this weekend. Because the Meyerson is known for its edgy, controversial comedy shows. Brady will be singing tributes to Sammy Davis Jr. and Sam Cooke, along with his usual improv stunts. The shows are at 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday at the Meyerson, 2301 Flora St. Tickets are $28 to $105. Visit DallasSymphony.com.
Fri., Aug. 29, 8 p.m.; Sat., Aug. 30, 8 p.m., 2008
