Gone to the Dogs

You think it's gross to let a dog get into a swimming pool, right? You cringe at the thought of all the loose hair, the muddy paws, the slobber. Well, imagine how I feel when I see your baby in the pool with me, in a loose diaper, probably leaking cryptosporidia into the water, snot running down its face and occasionally vomiting a bit of milk. Let's make a deal--you quit bringing your infant to the water park, and I'll only bring my dog on that one special day a year: Operation Kindness' Dog Day Afternoon on Saturday. We'll start the day at 9 a.m. with a one-mile pledge walk to raise money for the no-kill shelter, and then from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we'll cool off in the wave pool and lazy river at Hawaiian Falls Firewheel water park, 4550 N. Garland Ave. in Garland. On event day, $30 will enter a person and a pup in the walk and secure park admission plus other goodies. (Park admission only is $20.) Call 972-418-7297, ext. 261 or visit operationkindness.org/dda for details.
Sat., Sept. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., 2008
