High-Class Ballin'

Don’t worry, it’s for fur-friends and charity

Normally, the term "furball" is used in unpleasant situations, such as, "My cat just threw up a big ol' furball on the new rug." But when it comes to the SPCA of Texas Fur Ball 2008: Disco for the Dogs, it's all about good times and animal power, ya dig? To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the fur-lovin' organization, they're throwing a huge, '70s-themed bash that's gonna be groovy--not only 'cause it's a far-out party, but because it benefits the hep cats (and dogs) too. The whole thing goes down 7 p.m. Saturday at the Hilton Anatole, 2201 Stemmons Freeway. Attendees will enjoy complimentary valet parking, dinner, entertainment by comedian Dave Little, '70s music by All Funk Radio Show and a live auction with prizes such as suites for the Dallas Mavericks, a $1,000 gift card and a spa overnight at the Rosewood Crescent Hotel. And the best part is, while some squares will probably dress in cocktail attire, all the outta-sight peeps will don their best '70s threads, and that alone is worth the $150 for a ticket. For more information, or to get your paws on a ticket, visit spca.org.
