Poor Cinderella. She really had it rough. The mean, old stepmother, the bitchy stepsisters, the midnight curfew--cry me a river. She had a fairy godmother, people. Lady turned a damned pumpkin into a carriage. I don't know about you, but my pumpkins don't turn into anything but stale, stinky pumpkins, or maybe jack-o'-lanterns if I'm feeling particularly industrious. If you'll recall, she also turned mice into some righteous carriage steeds and a rat into a carriage driver. And she took Cinderella's ragged duds and turned them into a fab designer gown faster than Tim Gunn could say, "Make it work." So, when you see Cinderella this weekend at the Creative Arts Theatre and School, 1100 W. Randol Mill Road in Arlington, just remember--no matter how much she wants you to think she's one of the downtrodden little people, in reality she's just another Washington elitist, with her own fairy godmother. And while you rack your brain trying to cough up the $7 admission and decide between showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, she'll be busy wondering which of her 13 cars will drive her home to one of her seven houses, where she'll take off her expensive glass slippers and laugh at your misfortune, peasant. Fri., Oct. 3, 7:30 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 4, 2:30 & 7:30 p.m.; Sun., Oct. 5, 2:30 p.m., 2008
