Speak, Doggy!

Rodrigue's dog is blue...and chatty too

George Rodrigue painted a blue dog for a collection of Cajun ghost stories in 1984, and he's been painting different portraits of that ghostly loup-garou ever since. If the dog's blue fur coat and eerie yellow eyes weren't so captivating and mysterious, the dog probably would have been labeled a one-trick puppy years ago, but Rodrigue has managed to keep reinterpreting and reinventing the dog. The Cajun artist is in town signing copies of yet another collection of his work: Blue Dog Speaks. Before you think this reeks of nepotism, we're not related--at least not that I know of--though sharing the same commonly misspelled last name with the guy kinda makes me feel like we are kin. The signing will be at 2 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 7700 W. Northwest Highway. For more information, call 214-739-1124.
