Last month they took on the Germans, this month they're taking on the world. Where will Addison strike next? But seriously, those with a hankering for travel and diverse cultural experiences should head on out to the town that brought us a parade of Dachshunds and a Dachshund race just a short while ago. The Worldfest in Addison acts a regular sampler platter of the cultures of Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas. The festival features music, dancing, games for the children, a drum circle (for those so inclined), a wine tasting and, yes, the best part of any festival, food from all over the world (consider wearing the stretchy pants). It's not often that one gets the opportunity to cram such a large variety of cultural experience into one's life, via weekend excursion. This is traveling without the inconvenience of needing a passport or a money belt. But if you've been fighting vainly that feeling of ennui and are looking for a change, there's nothing like a little pretend to help you snap out of it. So bring your passport, some travelers checks and one of those money belts and come on out to Worldfest from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday at Addison Circle Park, at the corner of Arapaho and the Tollway. Heck, bring your fanny pack! Admission is $5. Parking is free. Visit dfwinternational.org.
