Nuns are scary. They appear in movies, always looming over some child's desk, ruler in hand, ready and willing to wreak havoc right out of a Catholic school nightmare. Thus nuns tend to make more appearances as scary costumes on Halloween rather than at Christmas (well, OK, I guess there is Ingrid Bergman in The Bells of St. Mary's, but that's pretty much it). But the nuns of Nunsense are cut from an entirely different habit, and they are back onstage for a Christmas-themed play called Nuncrackers. Those crazy characters first seen in the original musical comedy are back at the Richardson Theater to spread some holiday cheer in the production, also written by the series creator Dan Goggin. Here the ladies are putting on their very first taped special for their new cable access channel, located in the convent basement. So come on out for some singing, dancing and general holiday cheer. (I know, the thought of nuns scares me a little too, but I assure you these aren't those kind of nuns.) The show runs at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays--with 3 p.m. matinees on Sundays--through December 14 at the Richardson Theatre Centre, located at 2701 N. Custer Road, Richardson.
