Sure you can downward-dog and cobra and tree. You can meditate and balance your chi. You may have even dabbled in Tibetan Buddhism--I could throw a stick and hit a Dallasite who took a weekend's worth of interest in the religion and it's discipline when it came into "vogue." But how many times do you find someone legitimately inspired? Dallas-based artist Laura Elia turned to an easel and produced colorful works of original art inspired by her learning within Tibetan Buddhism--from the transformation of the lotus to the simple symbolism of the prayer flag. And she knows full-well what time it is. "I created these spiritually-based paintings to give people hope and inspiration during the busy holiday season," Elia says. See her Lotus and Awake series at Rising Gallery, 4631 Insurance Road, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visit risinggallery.com.
