Now that December's finally here (yippee!), it's time to gather up the kiddies and take 'em on some good, old-fashioned holiday outings. Might I suggest a leisurely drive through a well-to-do neighborhood to look at Christmas lights? Or bundling up and going caroling door-to-door? Wait, what's that? You're not broke? Well, then the world is your oyster, my friend! You can take the fam to see Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at Casa Manana, 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. The show amps up the old story with some shiny new characters, including Randolph (who's basically Will Ferrell's character in Elf) and Dr. Van Elfing (whose name is a little too close to "Van Helsing" for my tastes). And the musical score features plenty of holiday classics, such as "Jingle Bells" and "Deck the Halls," plus an original reindeer rap. The show is suitable for all audiences, of course, and tickets are $17 to $19, depending on seating. Rudolph runs through December 21, and showtimes are 7 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 7 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at 817-332-2272. Visit casamanana.org.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: Nov. 21. Continues through Dec. 21, 2008
