The calendar should be filling up just about now with all of your holiday dinners, parties, gift wrapping, shopping and volunteering. Leave room, though, for the three-day Dallas Indie Experience--a shopping event which should make even the squarest of squares find their inner hipster. Besides, where else can you mix the holiday season, Tammy Wynette and two bank-robbing, gun-toting bandits? As part of the Experience, fashion designer Tara Tonini and Joey Seeman mix art and fashion in Stand By Your Man: A Tribute to Bonnie and Clyde. Tonini debuts her latest in unique hats and hair accessories (for both men and women) infused with the style of the bank robbers' Depression era. In turn, Seeman's paintings recall the times of WPA murals with focus on the Depression's storytelling American Regionalists. Talk about an interesting combination: one part holiday shopping and one part the country's bleakest moment, mixed well during today's economic collapse. Check out Stand By Your Man as part of the Dallas Indie Experience Friday at Tara to the T Studios, 411 N. Tyler St. near the Bishop Arts District with the opening reception at 7 p.m. For more information, call 214-489-0797 or visit dallasindieexperience.com.
Fri., Dec. 5, 6-10 p.m., 2008
