Jimmy The Giggler

Fallon prepares Addison for late-night change

Many talented people have passed through the television meat-grinding juggernaut that is Saturday Night Live. Some have gone on to bigger, if not always better, things (I'm looking at you, Chevy Chase), while some leave and are never heard from again (I'm looking at you, Brad Hall). When Jimmy Fallon joined the cast in 1998, he definitely brought a young, hip sensibility to the show. With his perfectly messed-up hairdo and patented smarmy charm, he drove girls crazy at slumber parties nationwide. His best work was as co-anchor of "Weekend Update" alongside the brilliant Tina Fey. This was, in part, because he could laugh at his own jokes in that forum without it being a big deal. When he was performing in actual sketches, however, he could usually be seen trying as hard as he could to hold back a giggle. This was cute at first, but let's face it, Fallon's no Harvey Korman. Now, dear friends, you have a chance to see Jimmy Fallon in the flesh, Friday through Sunday at the Addison Improv. Catch him now before he takes over for Conan O'Brien as host of Late Night next year. He definitely does best behind a desk. Call 972-404-8501 or visit improv.com.
