Stringing Along St. Nick

The DCT plays with puppets

Year in, year out, Christmas traditions have a way of blurring together into one long series of tiresome light tours and forced viewings of The Nutcracker. Puppetry, on the other hand, is just corny enough to be cool. A colleague of ours here at the DO has a son who has recently delved into the professional art of puppetry, and he's a bit concerned about how the lad's career choice will influence his appeal to the ladies. We assured our friend that puppetry is way cooler than accounting or law, and so it follows that's Holiday for Strings: A Puppetry Extravaganza may be among the cooler seasonal offerings for the kiddies. They even incorporate penguins. Starring Santa and Frosty, the Extravaganza shows at the Rosewood Center for Family Arts, 5938 Skillman St., at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m Sundays through December 23. Tickets are $14 to $22. Call 214-740-0051 or visit dct.org.
Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 1:30 p.m.; Sundays, 1:30 & 4:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Dec. 23, 2008
