Christmas Curls

An orphan charms Bass Hall

At some point in time, every little girl gets the sinking suspicion that she was adopted. Who cares if she's the spitting image of her mother--there are persistent memories of days in an orphanage, singing, dancing and scrubbing toilets for the horrid Ms. Hannigan while waiting for her real parents to show up and rescue her. Yes, Annie ruined all of us, making us think that we would run away and live in a chore-free world with a floppy dog and a bald millionaire--and not in a gold digger sort of way. Always a classic, it's time for Annie to throw a monkey wrench in the next generation's ideas about family, as it opens at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with additional performances through Sunday at Casa Manana Theatre, 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. Tickets are $30 to $75. Call 817-332-2272 or visit casamanana.org.
Tue., Dec. 23, 7:30 p.m.; Thu., Dec. 25, 7:30 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 26, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sat., Dec. 27, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 28, 2 & 7 p.m., 2008
