Rolling Canvas

At first, I was a little disappointed to discover that the Papel Chicano: Works on Paper from the Collection of Cheech Marin exhibit presented by The Latino Cultural Center wasn't going to feature a bunch of artwork produced by Richard "Cheech" Marin. I had allowed myself to imagine some far-out, trippy art created by the more prolific half of the stoner-comedian duo Cheech and Chong. Instead, and not disappointingly at all, the exhibit features artwork by more than a dozen of the most celebrated Chicano and Chicana artists in the United States. (After 20 years of collecting, it seems Marin has amassed one of the largest collections of Chicano art in the world.) Located at 2600 Live Oak St., the LCC's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The exhibit runs through February 21, 2009, and admission is free. For additional information visit dallasculture.org/latinocc.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 18. Continues through Feb. 21, 2008
