Ring In The Laughs

Spend New Year's Eve with some local comedians

First it was the Hispanics taking all the good bricklayer and busboy jobs. Now the Indians are coming to America and stealing our standup comedy gigs. Is being a standup comic one of those jobs that nobody else will do? Is UTD offering a comedy class? Or are they coming here after honing their routines on Microsoft tech-support customers? Last Comic Standing contestant Paul Varghese and Raj Sharma will both share anecdotes about hilarious post-9/11 airport misunderstandings at the generically named New Year's Eve Special Event at Backdoor Comedy inside the Doubletree Hotel, 8250 N. Central Expressway. Also appearing are Aaron Aryanpur (who has a great bit about dollar stores), Linda Stogner, Jan Norton and Johnny Elbow. Tickets are $25 for the 8 p.m. show and $45 for the 10:30 p.m. show, which includes a midnight Champagne toast and other amenities. Call 214-328-4444.
Wed., Dec. 31, 8 & 10:30 p.m., 2008
