Get Reel in 2009

Bass and bucks are all the talk at the ACC

Do you need to know about wintertime crappie? Wait. Back up. Do you know what crappie is? Do you know how to cast? Is one side of your two-car garage occupied by either a bass boat or a gun safe and buckshot loader? Do you know how to handle live bait (not a euphemism) or want to splurge on some new tackle? Most important, though, have you ever seen Jimmy Houston on TV? If you answered "yes" to at least two of these questions (or you just really dig on spending time outdoors), the Texas Fishing, Hunting and Outdoors Show at Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way, could be your dream destination. Learn new techniques at seminars, listen to renowned speakers (such as Houston) and buy tons of stuff to fill the other side of the garage (you have a driveway and a street for the car, after all) from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, or 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for li'l anglers and target shooters 6 to 12. Visit texasfishingshow.com for details and daily schedules.
Thu., Jan. 8, 2-8 p.m.; Jan. 9-10, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., 2009
