Prince Valium

Slappy's puppets do Sleeping Beauty

There are few things worse than a man falling asleep on the job, and if you're Sleeping Beauty, then that can mean nothing but trouble. In the life of Sleeping Beauty, the prince had only one job--wake her (and everybody else) up with a kiss. Most guys would kill for an opportunity to make out with a hot princess, but not this guy. He fell asleep on the job, snoring away his time, and then a hundred years later he woke up and thought to himself, "Oh damn, I gotta go find me some sweet princess love," and ventured out to find her (because a hundred years is a long time to fly solo). Sure, that may not be the story you heard, but the entertaining marionettes at Slappy's Puppet Playhouse (on the third level of the Galleria, near Nordstrom's and the Children's Play Place, 13350 Dallas Parkway) are here to tell it like it is in Sleeping Beauty & The Snoring Prince, which opens Saturday and runs though March 29. All marionette shows are at 10:30 a.m. Fridays, 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $8 for children and seniors and $9 for adults, with group rates available. Call 214-369-4849 or visit slappysplayhouse.com.
Sundays, 2 p.m.; Fridays, 10:30 a.m.; Saturdays, 10:30 a.m. & 1 p.m. Starts: Jan. 11. Continues through March 29, 2009
