See Sister Struthers in Nunsense

Nuns. Those enigmatic, mysterious "Brides of Christ." To some folks, nuns are a quaint throwback to a simpler, much churchier time. To others, nuns are vicious, scowling schoolmarms with knuckle-bruising rulers and itchy trigger fingers. Regardless of your personal opinion, the image of the nun has become an iconic symbol worldwide. Then along came Nunsense, the 1985 musical comedy that kicked off the "wacky nun" craze that is still going strong. Forget Sister Act. Forget Nuns on the Run. Forget Dead Man Walking. When it comes to outlandish, over-the-top nun-related comedy, Nunsense is the Mother Superior of them all. There isn't enough space in this entire paper to even begin to describe the deliciously absurd plot of this gem of American Musical Theater. However there are two words that will be incentive enough to put asses in seats: Sally Struthers! Enough said. Check out Nunsense 8 p.m. Thursday at Bass Performance Hall, Fourth and Calhoun streets in Fort Worth. Call 817-212-4325 or visit basshall.com for tickets and info.
