During the Great Depression--the last one, we mean--lavish, light-hearted Hollywood musicals like 42nd Street and Gold Diggers of 1933 helped Americans forget their troubles for a while and escape to a glittering, fantastical world. This weekend, the 49th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts AutoRama brings a slew of custom-made hot rods, motorcycles and other really fast, fantastic things to Dallas Market Hall, 2200 Stemmons Freeway. What do these two unrelated facts have to do with one another? If you really don't know, please may we join you in your cave? Shout hallelujah, get happy and dream of the days when you can buy a car again as you wander the show's exhibits Friday through Sunday. The Mavericks Dancers will provide the hoofing. Tickets are $4 to $14, and the show opens at 3 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday. Visit autorama.com for details.
