Forget Halloween. I'm sitting here thinking about it, and Valentine's Day is definitely the scariest quasi-holiday. There are no rules, but my palms get sweaty thinking about the expectations. Is it about the grandeur or creativity of the gesture? What if your date plans a trip to Three Forks and you return the sentiment with a homemade card made of red paper and a doily? How would that look? (Next to a medium-rare steak, probably like a napkin.) Enough with the pressure already! Take a breather before you break into hives this Valentine's Day by enjoying time with your favorite furry companion. Foxy Paws, a dog boutique at Willow Bend Mall, is sponsoring a benefit party called Smooch the Pooch. A photo booth will be set up for six-legged couples, canines in costumes will calm your jittery nerves and bounties of dog treats and toys will be available for purchase. The event will last from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free, but a small fee will be required for photo booth pictures. Guests can bring their dogs, but they must be carried into the mall through the level one valet entrance. Proceeds will be donated to Lexee's Legacy Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Visit foxypaws.com.
