Keepsakes, inherited objects, ephemera: These pieces of the past take on a certain value whether adopted or truly sentimental. Over the course of time, items that are precious become a sort of art to us--perhaps kick-starting a mental masterpiece in memories or just serving as a beautiful thing from another era to sit or hang. In her latest exhibition, Looking Backwards, Dallas artist Diane Sikes uses found objects to examine such memories and thoughts over the course of time. Are they transitory? Do they grow more powerful? Are they fleeting and strong? Sikes' works also reflect, according to host 500X Gallery, an "internal journey"...often the best kind.
