A Hare-Raising Show

Artisan brings an invisible friend to life

The prevalence of life-sized bunnies in our culture is a disturbing trend. On my long list of phobias, giant rabbits rank high...among dancing clowns and comb-over hairstyles. Yet they've been hopping in and out of my life since one appeared at an Easter celebration during early childhood. I was as excited to visit his basket of eggs as I would be to accept a balloon from Pennywise the clown in Steven King's IT. A Jake Gyllenhaal drool fest was later ruined by another creepy bunny in the film Donnie Darko. If you're still craving cottontail, Artisan Center Theater offers a play about a man and his imaginary friend, a 6-foot-3.5-inch rabbit you might remember from a Jimmy Stewart film based on this play. Harvey runs through Saturday. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional 3 p.m. matinee Saturday. Call 817-284-1200 or visit ArtisanCT.com for more info.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: Feb. 20. Continues through Feb. 28, 2009
