Going For Gold

Mike Osbourne preserves Beijing 2008 on film

If you watched last summer's Olympic Games then you surely remember the massive show the Chinese people put on for the world, from the dramatic opening ceremonies in the Bird's Nest--arguably the greatest human spectacle in recorded history--to the massive smoke machine they constructed to set the mood for the planet's greatest athletes. Or maybe that was just smog. Either way, it was all quite the undertaking, and photographer Mike Osborne camped out in the city for several months before the games, capturing the people of Beijing as they transformed their city. On Location: Beijing hangs through March 21 at the Holly Johnson Gallery, 1411 Dragon St. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-369-0169 or visit hollyjohnsongallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: Feb. 21. Continues through March 21, 2009
