Live Up and Closer

Enter Stage Left presents Marber's edgy tale

Natalie Portman is smart. You gotta give her that. She went to Harvard, got straight A's, etc. But sometimes that chick confuses me. For instance, in the movie Closer (2004), she played a petite stripper who, get this, didn't strip. No nudity whatsoever. But then in Wes Anderson's 2007 short film Hotel Chevalier, in which Portman played a petite girl in a hotel room, she did strip. Nudity was everywhere. Where's the logic in that? I guess even a bona fide Harvard education doesn't help much in conundrums involving nudity. In any case, I think we can all agree that it's time for another take on the complex Closer story, with or without strippers that strip. The folks of theater production company Enter Stage Left are bringing back Patrick Marber's popular play from the '90s for their inaugural production, so don't miss this complicated tale of sexual desire, betrayal and the search for intimacy. See Closer at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays through April 18 at Teatro Dallas, 1331 Record Crossing Road. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. This production is rated R for adult language and situations, so leave the kids at home. For tickets or more information, visit enterstageleft.org.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 27. Continues through April 18, 2009
