Shred Masters

Raise your hand if you have a corrugated box--that probably once housed some electrical gadget, Girl Scout cookies or bulk anything--full of credit card offers, address labels, old bills or check book carbons, just sitting in the corner. It sits, the contents waiting to be shredded. And one day, perhaps, you tried to shred it all using your $30 shredder from the big box store. And that day your apartment filled up with a bizarre screeching noise and copious smoke. Since then it's sat there just sort of taunting you--a field day for a ID thief boxed for easy access. Fret no more, Texans Credit Union, 777 E. Campbell Road in Richardson, offers its quarterly Free Shred Day from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Individuals can bring up to five legal boxes of shred-ables for drive-up shredding service. After that, the shreds are recycled and all that irritating junk mail, check stubs and bills from the corner box will somehow be turned into goodness. For more info, visit texanscu.org.
