Intent for Suspense

Woods signs his latest Barrington novel

After completing his first suspenseful work of fiction, Chiefs, in 1981 (it was begun in 1973, but a foray into sailing interrupted his initial writing career), Stuart Woods received the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel. It may have taken him a while, but it sounds like it was for the best: Since the Edgar, Woods has written incredibly popular stand-alone novels as well as multiple character-based series, including the Stone Barrington series featuring a cop-cum-lawyer beloved by readers for his romantic trip-ups, action-packed adventures and sardonic dialogue. Woods' latest adventure--Stone's 16th--is Loitering With Intent and follows a search to find out which of Stone's clients--father or son--is telling the truth. Get your copy signed when Woods makes an appearance for a book discussion at Barnes & Noble, 7700 W. Northwest Highway, 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Call 214-739-1124.
