Everybody Dance Now

I know what your deal is. Not to scare you, but I've figured out your deepest, darkest desire, hidden in the teeniest, tiniest corner of your heart: You just wanna dance. And I'm here to tell you it's OK. What you're feeling is completely natural. The solution to your problem is as follows: Attend the free outdoor 2009 Dance for the Planet Festival, going on from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Annette Strauss Artist Square at Samuell-Grand Park, 6200 E. Grand Ave. When you first arrive, just hang back. Take it slow. Watch performances from one or two or 140 dance groups from all across North Texas. Take your kids to the Children's Art Zone, and get their little faces painted. Help them with some arts and crafts. Head over to the concessions and get a snack. But, after that, you're out of excuses, my friend, and you've got to do what you came to do: dance. Choose from salsa, yoga, tango, Pilates, belly dancing, disco or African dance, taught by local professionals. Or go totally and completely footloose and learn hip-hop from So You Think You Can Dance contestant Comfort Fedoke. Come on. You can do it. For more details, check out thedancecouncil.org.
Sat., May 2, 12-6 p.m.; Sun., May 3, 12-6 p.m., 2009
