Graduation Day

"I just wanna say one word to you. Just one word. Are you listening? Plastics." Need I say more? Need I even mention the original MILF, Anne Bancroft? Or Dustin Hoffman banging on the glass in the church while shouting, "ELAINE! ELAINE! ELAINE!" over and over and over? No. Because you all already know what I'm talking about: The 1967 classic boy-meets-girl, boy-sleeps-with-girl's-mom film, The Graduate. It's playing Thursday at Nasher Sculpture Center, 2001 Flora St., as part of the ongoing Free Films on First Thursdays series, presented by The Dallas Film Society. On the first Thursday of every month, they show a different classic film based on a novel, and admission is free. (The Graduate is based on the novel of the same name by Charles Webb.) The fun begins at 5 p.m. with dinner and cocktails at Nasher Café (which isn't free, of course), followed by a film chat with film critic Gary Cogill at 6:30 p.m., the movie screening in Nasher Hall at 7 p.m. and a post-film discussion at 9 p.m. (So, bring your thinking caps, folks!) For more information, or to see the lineup for upcoming film screenings, go to nashersculpturecenter.org.
