Moms and dads are two totally different entities. Biological differences aside, moms need recognition and appreciation, whereas dads need to be respected and left alone. This would be why Mother's Day has always been a bigger deal--forget to do something nice for mom and you'll be in the doghouse for quite a while. So this year, to honor the woman who went through an ever-escalating number of hours of labor to give you the blessed gift of life, leave dad at home and take mom to the 36th Annual Mother's Day Home Tour of the Swiss Avenue Historic District. In addition to finally getting to go inside those gorgeous historic homes that you usually just envy from the curb, there will be an art fair where you can pick up that special something for mom. The Sunday tour is from noon until 6 p.m. with an optional Champagne brunch by Penne Pomodoro starting at 11 a.m. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 the weekend of the tour and are available at Whole Foods Market, Needless Necessities or Talulah Belle. Call 214-748-5566 for brunch information or visit sahd.org.
