Cry Me A Musical

He's got the stars in the sky in his hands. He's got you and me, brother, in his hands. He's got the whole world in his hands. He put his right arm out, he shook it all about. He did the Hokey Pokey and turned himself around. And that's what this play's all about. Sort of. Lost in the Stars, a musical version of Cry, the Beloved Country, is a bit of a stretch (see: my synopsis). It was required high school reading, along with The Good Earth, neither of which seems best told through song and dance. Lost in the Stars questions our place in the universe, either alone and unattended or held in his hand, through jazz, blues and gospel. The show runs Thursdays through Sundays through June 14. Tickets are $15 to $40. Visit theatre3dallas.com.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: May 14. Continues through June 14, 2009
