Sister Act

We all want to give money to worthy causes, but it's so difficult to make room in the budget. Besides, after a hard week of work, you really just want to spend your hard-earned cash on something to help you unwind or divert you from the barrage of depressing news you've heard all week long. Now you can do both by attending Nunsense, a fundraising effort presented by the Little Sisters of Hoboken, New Jersey, to help bury 52 of the convent's sisters who died unexpectedly of botulism. As you can imagine, 52 burials is a large and unexpected expense, and in the meantime they've resorted to deep-freezing their sisters. Oh, but it gets worse. The New Jersey Department of Health says they can't keep dead bodies--not even nuns--in the same place where they store food, so the sisters are running up against a tight deadline. Families of all denominations are invited to join Mother Superior Mary Regina and her company for an evening full of comedy, songs and even ballet by Sister Mary Leo. The sisters will be perform Friday through June 20 on the Mainstage at Artisan Center Theatre, 420 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst. Call 817-284-1200.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays-Sundays, 7:30 p.m. Starts: May 15. Continues through June 20, 2009
