Gentleman, start your engines. Ladies, start yours too. This goes double for ladies and gentlemen who have embraced the smoking-hot pin-up and burlesque scene. From burlesque dance classes to professional pin-up photography, taking it all off--or taking most of it off--is the thing to do. And whether your interest in the scene is about participation, education or admiration, Hot Rods and Heels, the largest pin-up event in Texas, is the place to be. Daytime activities are family-friendly and include a vintage car show, shopping, a puppy kissing booth and burlesque workshops (The Art of the Shimmy, anyone?). Evening activities include a burlesque show with more than 20 of the best performers from all over the Lone Star State and The "Academy Awards of pin-up and burlesque" at 11 p.m. Performers include Angela Ryan, Ginger Valentine, The Jigglewatts and The Lollie Bombs. Vendors include Through The Looking Glass Photography, Miss Amy's Stitch & Kitsch and Sky Girls. Hot Rods and Heels is from 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday at Excuses Extreme Cafe, 3025 Main St., in Deep Ellum. Admission is $15. Visit hotrodsandheels.com.
