Space, the Shifting Frontier

The shadow of the late West Texas art legend Donald Judd looms large over Spatial Shifts, the newest exhibit at Marty Walker Gallery (2135 Farrington St.). Artist Jay Shinn's work--which features stainless steel rods and paint fashioned into minimalist installations--has been compared to that of Judd, while New Yorker Rupert Deese (whose work uses topography and maps to create art from the California landscape) is a former artist-in-residence of Judd's Chinati Foundation. Shinn and Deese share gallery space through June 6; fans of Judd's work should definitely take a look-see. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Call 214-749-0066 or visit martywalkergallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: May 7. Continues through June 6, 2009
