Canvas-Sized Rain

Artist Judy Youngblood's paintings look a lot like the water cycle illustrations you'd find in your average environmental science textbook. If they'd been drawn while on mushrooms, that is. "Autumn Bluster" shows giant raindrops falling on the silhouette of a running figure, while "Plenty of Sunshine" features giant raindrops splashing into a sun-shaped yellow puddle. In fact, pretty much all of the paintings in her new exhibit, Effects of Time & Weather, feature giant raindrops in one way or another. At least we know if she decides to tackle the human life cycle next, the giant sperm will be a breeze to render. Youngblood's work hangs through June 13 at William Campbell Contemporary Art, 4935 Byers Ave. in Fort Worth. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Call 817-737-9566 or visit williamcampbellcontemporaryart.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: May 28. Continues through June 13, 2009
