Back in 1998, I pulled on my tight jeans and skimpiest halter top and headed out to Texas Stadium to indulge my alter ego as one of a posse of screaming high-school girls at the George Strait concert. We spent the evening shouting the words to "Blue Clear Sky" and trying to finagle Dixie cups of beer from cute (but invariably straight-laced) boys in Red Wing boots and cowboy hats. Texas Stadium has since gone the way of my cowboy crushes and halter tops--whether I gave them away or my mother burned them isn't clear--but George Strait is still around, still crooning about things like grammatically suspect love ("It just comes natural"). In fact, Strait--with country star Reba McEntire--will be headlining this summer's inaugural concert June 4 at the new Cowboys Stadium. A lot has changed since 1999: Tickets that used to top out at $45 now run from $38.50 (nosebleed) to $137.50 (floor), and Dancing With the Stars champion Julianne Hough will make an appearance (we're not sure why, except that she's pretty), but we can probably expect the usual mix of twangy hits and heartstring-pulling love songs from Strait this year. Oh, and maybe a few screaming high-school girls. Tickets available through Ticketmaster.
