Girly Show

What do star-shaped creatures, a mandala made from a plastic bag, a bunch of brightly colored monofilament line, entropy and the Internet have in common? Well, they're all parts of the Halloween costume I'm planning for this year, but more important, they're all elements or concepts of works by the artists featured in the latest show at Holly Johnson Gallery, 1411 Dragon St. Through August 15, every night is ladies' night at the HoJo Gallery, thanks to their exhibition Femme Fatale, which features a variety of sculpture and painting techniques by five female artists. With their powers combined, Virginia Fleck, Sharon Louden, Kim Radmus Owens, Kim Squaglia and Sarah Walker will bring you face to face with what art is like when it's created by someone without an Adam's apple. Don't miss it. (Also, I'm just gonna throw this out there: Squaglia is a really cool name.) Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information about this and other Holly Johnson Gallery shows, call 214-369-0169 or go to hollyjohnsongallery.com.
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: June 16. Continues through Aug. 15, 2009
