Mansions Ma'ams

There are probably more than two types of people who attend brown bag lunches, but the ones that come most easily to mind are bespectacled professors in baggy, wide-wale corduroy pants and sweater vests who munch thoughtfully on tunafish sandwiches, and fourth graders who scream raucously through crustless triangles of PB&J. The target audience for this month's iteration of the Dallas Historical Society's lecture series is most certainly the former category, plus its female equivalent (same spectacles, different dress...one hopes). From noon until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, the Historical Society will host its seventh lecture, "Women of the Texas Governors Mansion," with a presentation by local historian and personality Ann Shelton at the Clampitt Paper's Creative Center (the Hall of State, the Society's usual venue, is under renovation). For details or to book a group, call 214-421-4500, ext. 104.
Wed., July 8, 12-1 p.m., 2009
